I guess a divorce is a weird thing to celebrate because you wouldn't normally consider it a happy event. In this case, however, it is definately a good thing. And who wouldn't cherish the opportunity to celebrate a girl's freedom with 20 close friends? That's what we did last night; had a great dinner and enjoyed half off wine night at Seva while honoring this beautiful woman's new beginning.
And what a way she decided to start it out: she and three girlfriends are currently on their way to New Orleans for Jazz Fest. Man am I jealous. Now all I can hope for are some nicely earned beads.

Boat Building
When Smita was in town, our friend Edgar took us to see what he does for a living. He's been building boats for a few years, and I always thought it was a very interesting profession, seemingly perfect for such a creative and intellegent person. I had no idea what went into it until I saw the warehouse myself, though. This massive steel boat skeleton has been hand cut, welded and all that crazy stuff by just two people, and let me tell you, it is amazing to see in person. I was totally blown away.
This particular boat is being built for a retiring couple who plan to sell thier house and live on the open sea. It is what I believe is called "transcontinental" so they can travel the world in their nearly indestructable houseboat. It will sleep six, so I think it is time for me to find these people, become friends with them, and invite myself along.

NEW JOB NEW JOB NEW JOB!!!
Today is a day that I have been dreaming about for a long time now. I start training at the new job tomorrow, and I am TURNING IN MY RESIGNATION to the GP today. I will still be picking up shifts here and there, but opening the heavy wooden door to go to work will only happen when I want and on my terms.

KTC's Heaven
I can't say that there are many things in life I enjoy more than monkeys. If you know me, you are certainly painfully aware of my obsession. If you don't know me, lets give an example: Sitting here at my computer, without turning around to look at the rest of the room, I am able to see 15 different representations of the lovely primates.
Imagine my utter joy when, at a Cleveland Cavaliers game, there was a woman with a monkey in the outer arena. Even better, she was letting everyone play with Jelly (the monkey), and look who got to hold her.
I liked basketball before, but now! Take me to a Cav's game any day of the week.

Fun Times
This picture was taken on my birthday in an extremely cramped car (6 people in a Civic), and I consider it to be a birthday gift that keeps on giving. This unabashed silliness on my friends faces will live forever and always remind me of those fun times of the past.

Ball Chair
If I had one of these super sweet ball chairs (this one has speakers in it) I think I might never leave the house.
The Kitty
It is no surprise to anyone who knows me to hear that I am psycho crazy about animals. This is my sweet, lovely Chonga who isn't always sweet and lovely, let me assure you. However, this morning she let me sleep in for the first time ever instead of waking me up around 6 for breakfast, so I thought she deserved this entry. And besides, look at how cute she looks with the pumpkins! I had this picture up on flickr for like 2 minutes and it already got a comment: A cat that knows how to look it's best! I suppose she does, maybe I should put her in commercials or something. I would be the ultimate kitty stage mom!
