Arrested Development

The funniest show on television, and perhaps the only thing that I watch that isn't cartoon or reality.... oh, how I love my Bluth family. I'm so happy we're smack at the beginning of season 3, it makes my Mondays more bearable and every other day of the week excruciating waiting for the next episode.

I may have laughed so hard this week that I fell on the floor... only my favorite TV family has a stair car and a cabin car, so you have to "watch out for bridges and hop-ons cause you will get some hop-ons," and "watch out for live-ins cause you will get some live-ins."

I realize that some reading this might not follow the show and may not find this very interesting or funny at all, but I personally just cracked up while writing that (thank God no one else is upstairs at Rendez-Vous at this ungodly hour). In fact I just read it again and I am still chuckling.

The funniest moment in the last episode, however, had to be in the preview for next week, when we find that Scott Baio will be playing the Bluth family's new lawyer, Bob Loblaw. Not very funny yet? Say it fast... Bob Loblaw. Ba-blah-blah. Ba-blah-blah!

I'm not sure how this is coming off over the computer, it could be totally lame, but I am finding it terribly amusing. And frankly, that's all that really matters here.

Ba-blah-blah!

..... the Whole World Smiles With You

Eh, kind of an obscure post today... I've been meaning to share this pic of Kelly wearing a slightly maniacal grin, so there you go. Does it make you grin too? No? Me niether, it's too damn early in the morning. But maybe for you, reading this post, it's mid afternoon, you just woke up from a good ten hours of sleep, you've got your OJ and Special K and Kelly is just really making you smile right now. That's good. Good for you.

Me? Do I sound kinda grouchy today? I feel grouchy. I'm sitting upstairs at Rendez-Vous watching the minutes tick away until class starts and really wishing I had an IV cause the coffee isn't getting into my system fast enough. I've got two papers due (in one class, what crap) tomorrow, one is done and the other isn't even started. Looks like it's going to be a long day.

At least it's not raining. Just kidding, it's like a torrential downpour out there. Hurricane Rita in Michigan, even. Aren't you glad you read Things Loved today? Rather cheery wasn't it?

World's Ugliest Dog

But I just got my BRAND NEW LAPTOP (if you've seen my old computer- circa 1998- you understand how exited I am) so I will be able to handle the workload a little better and also procrastinate by posting on these silly little blogs.

In a totally unrelated matter, I thought I'd show you all this lovely pic in case you'd never seen Sam, the winner of The Worlds Ugliest Dog Contest for the past 3 years. He is a 14-year-old pedigreed Chinese something or other, and isn't he adorable?? Imagine waking up to him cuddling with you in the morning. I imagine it would be a serious shock each time.

Happy Birthday Colleen (and Anna)!

Colleen KC
Originally uploaded by primalktc.
A little bit of a joint birthday post on this one, but I don't think the girls will mind. Let me say right off that this picture is NOT of Colleen and Anna, it's of Colleen and KC (Colleen not to be confused with the oft mentioned Leen, and KC not to be confused with KTC- me). But I don't have a picture of the two of them together. Want to see a cute pic of Anna? Hit the post titled "Girlfriends" in the archives and she's the cutie dressed up as catwoman.

Anyway, let's get into it. Colleen was the first person that I met when I started working at the Peak, and I'm pretty sure that I was intimidated by her (who am I kidding, I was terrified). I learned eventually, however, that she has a very dirty sense of humor that could make me laugh on even the worst nights at work. She would always draw this little character called Boxface on coasters, which I loved because he was quirky/cute, and I always support the frivolous wasting of coasters (5 cents apeice, take that Shelde's). Colleen is a great friend, she always seems to know what I'm thinking. She's moving to NYC here pretty soon, and I will miss her dearly (look for a farewell post on Things Hated), but that just means there is one more person who I can visit when I am in the city. Hooray.

On to Anna... I remember the first day she started work at the Peak. My friend Mark came up to me with this stricken look on his face and told me a story about some girl he had hooked up with and never called, and now! Now she was working with us. I thought it was pretty funny (although I thought he was dumb as hell for not calling her, she's a hottie) and I had no idea that years down the line I would be calling Anna a good friend. And she is. She also shares my love for monkeys, and anyone who loves monkeys is just all right with me.

Happy Birthday, Ladies. Love ya!

Getting the Hell Out of Dodge

To start, let me say that I have used the phrase "I'm getting the hell out of dodge" for years and years, not realizing that I really have no idea what that means. To me, it means, I'm leaving and you can not come with me, or I'm leaving because I'm sick of you and your shit. But I just looked it up and it's really a phrase from old Western movies and it originally referred to Dodge City, Kansas. Apparently when the bad guys were beaten by the good guys, they were commanded to get the hell out of Dodge. Don't you find that incredibly interesting? Me too.

Anyway, I'm leaving town for the weekend to housesit for my mom, which I think will be a very good thing. Not only do I get to hang out with Leia the Dog and Dutchess the Cat, but I will also certainly get some studying done so I will be all caught up for next week. Which means that I can actually start on the mounds of homework that all of this reading is supposed to apply to.

I also have some other plans for my mini vacation which include walking around the lake listening to Ben Folds on my iPod, having a drink at the best redneck bar in town, maybe going to see if Hector and Jimmy's still exists, oh, and I was going to catch up on some blog entries...

So it remains to be seen exactly how I will fit all of this into the few days (about 2) that I have, but I'm going to try. I'm actually kind of hoping that the laptop that I have coming in the mail (woo hoo) will not come today before I leave because then all of my plans will fly out the window so that I can tinker with it. I should really start packing, maybe after I waste a little more time on the internet.

A Wonderful Roommate

Joker Danjo
Originally uploaded by primalktc.
This guy (admittedly he doesn't usually look like this, this is a Halloween pic, duh) has been making me extremely happy recently. His name is Danjo, and he is my one sane roommate (out of two). He recently underwent foot surgery and was layed up in East Lansing for three months, so I forgot what it was like to have him around the house.

I came back from my dad's last night and the living room carpet had been cleaned. Let me tell you, that carpet was nasty when we moved in here two years ago, but now it looks almost new. Better than I have ever seen it or ever even imagined it. Danjo also cleaned my fishtank (admittedly I have some more work to do on it but it is a pain in the ass and I am lazy) and he found this plaque-like thingy that my dad got me (years ago) that says "Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much," and hung it in the perfect place above our dining room table.

Oh Danjo, I love him so much right now. I got all veclemped last night when I walked in to see the house in the state that it was. It's not that I can't do this stuff myself... well, yes, I guess it is. I'm a slothful, dirty bastard who is lucky to have a wonderful roommate. If only I could replace the other one (yes Brad, that means you, shape up before I post about you on Things Hated).

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!

Real quick today... I just wanted to say that even with all the negativity and bullshit that I've been hearing since some crazy stuff went down in pre-season (my dear, beloved Jeff Garcia with his fractured fibula), I am really looking forward to the first Lions game of the season in just two short days. Lions football is a crazy passion of mine, and I'm sure that you, my faithful readers, will become extremely tired of my opinionated commentary throughout the season. Please bear with me.

Haters, beware. Loyalty is a virtue.

A New Chapter: In School Again!

chapters
Originally uploaded by primalktc.
After a year of slogging around town, partying too much and generally wasting my time, I have joined the ranks of the scholarly once again. Though this time is different in a few significant ways:

1. The building that I spend my days in is NOT a million years old, neglected, and far from the University's rehabilitation radar.

2. They tell ME what classes to take. I was a "comprehensive communications" major in my undergrad. (Translation: which theater, radio, or otherwise cushy elective courses would I like to take this semester?)

3. Books! Books? Five hundred dollars worth of books! (See above: theater classes don't require hardcovers)

4. Ann Arbor: got to love it. Not to bash the fine city of Ypsilanti (my previous campus), but this is my home. And, I look smarter cause I'm one of the only people in my program who doesn't get lost all the time.

I could go on. It is weird being back in school, especially because I never pictured myself at U of M until a few months ago. And parts of it are going to take some getting used to (a good football team) but I am incredibly contented at the moment to be stepping off the cliff into this new chapter of my life.

Oh, but don't let me forget about the artwork! This picture is by Kurt Halsey Frederiksen, one of my new favorite artists. He's got lots more creative stuff on his website, you should check it out.

Vacation and Sleep

Originally uploaded by primalktc.
I've officially had two days of vacation and I have two days left. Smack in the middle right now. Let's reflect, shall we?

Day one... hmm... let me think... well, I guess Thursday night was officially day one, since Leen and I went out pretty early after we were done at school. We hung out on the patio at Chucks and then went over to the Alley Bar. I was kinda tired, left early (so 1 am is early to me, so what? Pre- last call is early) and went to bed. Friday night was chill, my roommie Danjo finally moved back into town so we hung out here. Last night... last night was too much. Party in Ypsi* at Weber's new place (I haven't partied in Ypsi in years so it was some unusual fun) and then I got back here around, I dunno... four in the morning. Fun!

This vacation so far has also been about sleep! I got myself used to getting up early for orientation, so I've generally been waking up between 8 and 9 and then fighting with myself to sleep for a few more hours. Some days it works, and some days it doesn't. Today: 11:00! Fabulous sleep in time!

What am I going to do with my two remaining days of freedom, you ask? Well, it is Sunday night so I would be willing to bet you could find me at the Heidelburg this evening (although today should be about running errands, come on, you can do it, KTC!). Tomorrow is Labor Day, and I will be at the lake. Yay!

*I do need to give a little shout out here, to my friend Nick Oas from high school. He had a birthday bash in Ypsi yesterday that I definately should have gone to, but I have social phobias around people I don't know, and especially around people I do know from my hometown. Not Nick. But other people. Well, that is that. Happy birthday, dude.
